Arcade Portal is a small, independent collection of retro-style arcade games that you can play straight away in a web browser, on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

All 12 games were designed and built for this site, and so were their graphics, music and sound effects. Each one is a short-session game: easy to start and hard to master, with a leaderboard so you can compare your best run with other players.

What makes the games different

Made for every screen

Every game supports keyboard and touch controls. The playfield keeps a fixed 4:3 shape, so phone and desktop players see exactly the same level.

Fair leaderboards

Every game has its own leaderboard. Names are limited to 15 letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens and underscores, and are filtered before they are saved.

Written guides

Each game has a guide covering its controls, scoring rules and strategy, written from the game's own code.

How the site is kept up

Tested on real devices: before each update, the games are played through automated tests on phone and desktop screen sizes to catch broken controls and layout problems.
Regular additions: new games and fixes are released as the collection grows. Recent additions include Tetris Marathon, Orbit Blade, Neon Ricochet and Shinobi Ascent.
Funded by ads: the games are free because of advertising. Ads are shown on content pages and during breaks between games, never on top of active gameplay. The privacy policy explains how ads and cookies work.
